NAMFISA Breaks Ground on New Office Building

  • The Namibia Financial Institutions Supervisory Authority (NAMFISA) today celebrated a significant milestone with the groundbreaking ceremony for its new office building. The event marks the beginning of a project that promises to enhance service delivery, operational efficiency, and consumer protection within the financial services industry in Namibia.

In her opening remarks, NAMFISA Board Chairperson Hettie Garbers-Kirsten highlighted the importance of this new development. "It is with great pride and excitement that we gather here today. As we turn the first sod of earth, we are not just laying the foundation for a building; we are laying the groundwork for a future of enhanced service delivery, increased efficiency, and sustained growth," she said.

The new headquarters is designed to be a state-of-the-art facility that will support NAMFISA's strategic and operational goals. "Our strategic intent with this new building is clear: to create a modern, efficient, and conducive environment that will enable NAMFISA to better serve the financial services industry, and, most importantly, the Namibian people," the Chairperson added.

To ensure the successful execution of its noble mandate, NAMFISA requires a conducive environment to operate from, namely office premises that are fit for purpose. Our new headquarters will be a beacon of stability and progress, reflecting our dedication to safeguarding the interests of consumers and investors, and maintaining the integrity of the financial system while remaining financially sustainable ~ NAMFISA’s Chief Executive Officer, Kenneth S. Matomola

  • Reflecting on the journey to this moment, Matomola quoted Nelson Mandela: "It always seems impossible until it’s done," and shared the story of Moses and the Promised Land, drawing parallels to NAMFISA's mission and vision for the future.

As NAMFISA breaks ground today, it not only marks the start of a construction project but also signifies a commitment to a stronger, more resilient financial sector. The new building stands as a promise to the people of Namibia that NAMFISA will continue to uphold the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and service delivery.

"We are building not just a structure, but a legacy of excellence and trust," the Chairperson concluded, extending gratitude to all who have made this project possible.
